Sam Bruning

Sam Bruning is the founder of Southern Magnolia Investment Management.  He began his career in the financial services industry with Legg Mason Wood Walker in 1999. After college, Sam returned to the industry with Wachovia Securities / Wells Fargo Advisors in 2004 before moving to Smith Barney / Morgan Stanley in 2009.

Originally from Arkansas, Sam relocated to Stuart with his family in 1987. Martin County has been called home for all but 3 years while Sam was away at college.

Sam earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Stetson University in DeLand, Florida.

Sam gives back to the community by serving on the boards of multiple local non-profit and leadership organizations. Sam is currently a board member of the Hobe Sound Chamber of Commerce and the LEADERship Martin County Alumni Board. Sam is a former board member of the Stetson University Alumni Board and The Young Professionals of Martin County.

Sam is a graduate of LEADERship Martin County - Class 21, Leadership Stetson, and he has completed Disney’s “Approach to Business Excellence” course.

Over the past two years, Sam has studied multiple languages including Spanish, Japanese, Italian, and Portuguese. Sam’s goal is to travel to Italy, Japan, Brazil, and Spain in the next four years.

When not serving clients, Sam enjoys New York Mets baseball, running 5ks and Half Marathons, reading, listening to music on vinyl, golf, working out at OrangeTheory Fitness - Jensen Beach, and spending time with his dogs – James & Jacki. Sam recently adopted a black cat named Samantha Peterson, whom he loves dearly despite the scars. The dogs are not as thrilled.
